The lack of privacy is a big issue nowadays, but you can still protect yourself if you have the appropriate tools. One of them is the Epic Privacy Browser, a Chromium-based web browser with built-in security and anti-tracking measures. It comes with support for plug-ins, a customizable quick dial and it has a very familiar design, so anyone can learn its controls in just a few moments. Like most browsers on the market, Epic is offered completely free of charge and it can be installed on Mac OS X or Windows in less than a minute.

As previously mentioned, Epic is based on Chromium, so its strong resemblance to Google Chrome should not be surprising. Despite its many similarities to Chrome, Epic comes with its own unique features. The first thing you will notice is the fact that you can manually add websites to the quick dial, on the "new tab" page. You will also notice two counters, on the same page, for blocked trackers and third party cookies.

Regardless of which website you visit, the browser will block all ads automatically and it will push other contents in their place, so you won't see empty spaces on a page's top portion. Additionally, Epic will block all trackers. Once you connect to a website, the browser will show you exactly which trackers have been blocked, in a small box, in the lower right corner of the user interface. You can enable or disable specific privacy features in a pop-up menu, after clicking a button next to the address bar.

Another useful feature is the possibility of redirecting the browser's traffic through a proxy. All you have to do is click a small icon in the address bar, after which you may visit any website in a secure fashion. Once you enable this feature, websites and other services will log you with a different IP address, while your real address will stay safe. It is also a good way to bypass country-related restrictions.

Pros

Epic offers the same speed and comfort as Google Chrome. The browser comes with built-in privacy and security features. It can block ads, trackers and cookies automatically.

Cons

There aren't too many extensions available for Epic. Epic's name is a good description of its privacy and security capabilities.
