You don't need advanced software to view images. Any basic tool will suffice, but if you want to display them in a more interesting manner, you can try ePic. It shows your images as real photos, in a 3D environment. Its basic functions allow you to pan through the environment, move pictures, play slideshows and more. It is a lightweight tool and it is very easy to use.

The setup process is simple. It requires only clicking a few Next buttons, but it may take longer than expected to install the software's components. The good news is that you will not have to make any complex configurations along the way. Just run the setup file and in about a minute, you can launch the application.

When launching ePic, it will load the 3D environment, in full screen mode. Images are also displayed in 3D, like real life photos and some of them are even displayed as polaroids. You can zoom in or out with the mouse wheel, pan left and right by moving the mouse while holding down the right button, by moving the cursor to the screen's edges or by clicking the next and previous options, on the upper edge of the screen. The application will pan automatically if you click a Play button, in the same area.

Other options allow you to select a different images folder, play a slideshow, set it to repeat and access the application's main settings panel. You may select a different transition effect and speed for the slideshow. It is also possible to choose a wood or brick background for the 3D environment. If you load an audio file, on the same settings panel, the application will start playing it as you go through your images.

The pictures themselves behave realistically. You can grab them with the mouse cursor and as you move them, they will spin and flip, depending on how fast you move the cursor. There is a discrete beam of light in the environment and if you move a picture into this light, it will shine like actual photographic paper.

Pros

ePic's interface is neat and elegant. It displays your images as real life photos and you can move, spin, flip or throw them in a realistic manner. It is also capable of running a slideshow and playing soundtracks of your choosing.

Cons

If you throw an image out of the screen, it may not come back until you throw another one. With ePic's innovative features, viewing images will never seem dull. It features simple functions, so anyone can use the application, including beginners.
